Clays put up a brave fight against a strong Southgate Senior Vets team, but ultimately fell 6-3 in a hard-fought match at Southgate’s home ground. The game started evenly, with both teams adopting an attacking approach. Despite going down early, Clays managed to strike back twice in the first half, with Hawker and Chris Mather finding the back of the net to keep the contest alive at 4-2 by halftime.
The second half saw Clays come out with renewed determination, and Rich Hall added a third goal to narrow the gap. However, despite creating several chances and putting Southgate under pressure, the home side capitalized on key moments to extend their lead. Southgate’s clinical finishing ultimately made the difference, and despite Clays resilience, the match ended 6-3 in favour of the home team.
Clays should take heart from their relentless effort and strong attacking performance. With continued determination and teamwork, victories will come. Every setback is just a setup for a stronger comeback.
